The son of a Pakistani diplomat has been arrested and charged with raping a 13-year-old Bronx girl and sexually abusing her friend in a motel last week.
The News reports that 20-year-old suspect Mehmood Rahimoon is the son of Muhammad Rahimoon, who is a community/welfare counselor for the Pakistani government. "It's a shock. I knew nothing of this," the father told the News after his son's arraignment yesterday. "This is all fabricated. My son is a good person."
Police say that Rahimoon met the teenage girl via the app Whisper in October. They met in person at least three times, with the last incident taking place on December 1st at the Riveroad Motor Inn in the Bronx. Rahimoon allegedly raped the girl there, and also sexually abused her 13-year-old friend.
The friend apparently told her parents what had happened, prompting a sting operation by police: "As part of the investigation, detectives set up a controlled meeting in upper Manhattan for Tuesday night," the News reports. "Rahimoon showed up in a vehicle with State Department consul license plates and was arrested."
Rahimoon, who does not have diplomatic immunity, reportedly made a full confession to cops, and has been charged with raping a minor, sex abuse, sexual misconduct, and endangering the welfare of a child.
