One of the most iconic images of Hurricane Sandy's destruction was the Seaside Heights roller coaster thrown into the Atlantic Ocean. Now, over six months later, the roller coaster is set to be demolished.
The demolition will start tomorrow and it expected to last a few days. But don't worry—it'll still be there for Prince Harry's photo op when he visits the hurricane-ravaged shoreline with NJ Governor Chris Christie. The British royal will be in Seaside Heights at noon and demo is starting at 2 p.m.
Various officials have wanted the roller coaster out before Memorial Day, and Casino Pier spokeswoman Toby Wolf explained, "[It’s] pretty close to shore and that’s a safety hazard for swimmers, surf."
