The weather has taken a turn for the gorgeous this Memorial Day. We should have plenty of sun and a high in the mid to upper 80s, making this the warmest day of the year so far. More warm weather is expected tomorrow but there will be a chance for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon as the high pressure system to our south starts to get pushed away by a back door cold front sneaking in from New England.

That cold front is a bit of a surprise development and means this week won’t be nearly as warm as we expected last week. With an easterly wind behind the front, something we’ve seen way too often this spring, Wednesday will be cool and cloudy with a high only in the upper 60s. Thursday is expected to be just as cool but perhaps not as cloudy.

As of now, the weather for next weekend is looking pretty normal. Friday is the day on the annual temperature curve where the average high first reaches 75 degrees and we’ll probably fall just a couple of degrees short of that. There’s currently a slight chance of rain on Friday as a cold front is expected to cross the region, but next Saturday and Sunday are looking dry with high temperatures running just a tad cooler than normal.
