A dead body wrapped in plastic was discovered inside of a wooden crate at a Bronx marina on Monday afternoon, according to the NYPD. The crate was reportedly lodged under an overturned boat behind the Ice House Cafe, which backs up to the marina itself.

"The box was on the ground, underneath a boat that was dragged up," an NYPD spokesman said. "The boat was very dry."

Police responded to the Locust Point Marina at 140 Reynolds Avenue in Throgs Neck around 12:14 p.m. on Monday, according to the NYPD. The Daily News spoke to a maintenance worker at the marina, who said one of his coworkers was cleaning the boat so that it could be sold, because its owner had died (the body isn't believed to be that of the boat's late owner). The worker discovered the wooden crate underneath the boat, and pried it open.

"He opened the locker and cut open the bag and found the body," the maintenance worker told the tabloid.

Police couldn't identify if the body was male or female, and a confirmation of the cause of death is pending form the Chief Medical Examiner.
