Dante de Blasio is already indisputably the coolest 16-year-old on the planet, but now his legions of teen, tween and admitted adult fans have even more reason to emulate his awesomeness; TIME Magazine has named him one of the Most Influential Teens of 2013.

Naturally, it was Dante's sweet 'do that caught TIME's eye. "Bill de Blasio might be the Mayor-elect of New York, but his 16-year-old son Dante is the city’s latest fashion icon," the magazine gushed. "Dante’s now-iconic afro has starred in a campaign ad, inspired a New York Times Style section piece, and even gained President Obama’s attention." Yeah, we (and Jon Stewart) dig it.

Dante joins top-notch teens like Malala Yousafzai, the 16-year-old Pakistani activist who was shot in the neck and head by the Taliban, and 18-year-old Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin. Also on TIME's list: Justin Bieber, ostensibly winning the title of Most Influential In Teen Douchebaggery and Public Urination, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner, who "have raised eyebrows for their precocious behavior." Children really are the future.
