The teenaged cyclist struck by a yellow cab on Monday evening has died. DNAinfo reports that the 19-year-old male victim, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at 2:35 a.m. at Mount Sinai. Accounts of how the crash happened provided by the NYPD are conflicting.
According to DNAinfo, both the cab driver and the cyclist were traveling eastbound on 108th Street, "when the cyclist entered the intersection and was struck by the cab." But an NYPD spokesperson tells us that the victim was traveling westbound (the wrong way) on 108th Street, and that the cab was heading southbound on Park Avenue.
Both accounts are consistent with the details that the cab driver remained at the scene, and that there is no criminality suspected. We'll update when we have more information.
