Police are searching for the driver of a Mercedez Benz "party bus" who fatally struck a cyclist at the intersection of Rockaway Boulevard and 90th Street last night in Ozone Park. Investigators say the unidentified cyclist was biking west on Rockaway Boulevard at approximately 9:30 p.m. when "he sideswiped and struck with the passenger side of a black Mercedes Benz van, which was also traveling westbound on Rockaway Boulevard."

The collision sent the cyclist under the van. According to police, the driver stopped, briefly exited the vehicle, then got back behind the wheel and sped off. The cyclist was pronounced DOA at Jamaica Hospital.

No arrests have been made. The Daily News and ABC 7 report that cyclist was also struck by the driver of a flatbed truck, and that motorist also fled the scene. But the official statement from the NYPD makes no mention of a second driver, and this morning an NYPD spokesman could not confirm the accuracy of these reports. Another police source tells NBC New York that the vehicle was a "party bus."
