A cyclist is in a coma after being punched off his bicycle early Thursday morning in Bedford-Stuyvesant, according to police.

NYPD officials say that the 38-year-old man was riding along Fulton Street at Albany Avenue when someone punched him in the face.

The cyclist fell and suffered serious head trauma, police said.

Emergency medical personnel rushed the man to Kings County Hospital in critical condition, and he is in a coma there, DNAinfo reports.

The site identified the victim as Domingo Diego-Tapia, a father of two whose wife said he was leaving his job at a grocery store when assaulted. He reportedly suffered a fractured skull and has been in and out of surgery.

"It's really difficult right now. The kids don't know," Diego-Tapia's wife Esther Diaz told DNAinfo. "Our older son has asthma and I can't tell him. All I can do is wait and hope."

Cops describe the assailant as in his mid-20s, with an athletic build and a beard.

He was last seen wearing sweatpants, sandals, a Nike ball cap, and a long-sleeve t-shirt with a "G" on the chest.

It's not clear what prompted the attack.

No arrests have been made.
