A man in his 20s was killed this morning by a Long Island Railroad train while cycling through a railroad crossing.
An LIRR spokesperson tells us the man was struck in Central Moriches in Suffolk County. The gates at the railroad crossing were down, but he went around, and was fatally struck at 10:10 a.m. Service on the Montauk line is interrupted from Montauk to Patchogue; we will update when more information becomes available.
