A driver fatally struck a cyclist on the border of Clinton Hill and Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn this morning. Police say the cyclist, a 34-year-old woman, was riding against traffic on Classon Avenue when the driver of a red Fiat hit her while turning left onto Lexington Avenue at around 8:40 a.m. Officers transported the cyclist to Brooklyn Hospital in Fort Greene, and doctors there pronounced her dead, according to police.

The driver, a 41-year-old woman, stayed on the scene and has not been arrested or cited. An NYPD spokeswoman said police are still investigating.
The intersection is just outside the Clinton Hill Slow Zone [pdf], where the speed limit is 20 miles per hour and speed bumps have recently been added to make the streets safer. The crossroads was the scene of four crashes in 2015, including one that injured a motor vehicle occupant, according to NYPD data.
