A robber held up a Queens nail salon on Saturday before fleeing from the shop in an ambulette.

The crook entered the Shinki Nail and Spa on Union Turnpike and claimed he was carrying a gun. Once inside, he demanded that the three staffers and four customers in the salon move to the back of the store and hand over their money and valuables, according to the Daily News. While the thief grabbed pocketbooks, credit cards, driver's licenses, money, rings, necklaces, one of the victims ran to a nearby diner, where she called for help. The suspect then drove off in a miniature ambulance.

Cops have ruled out a carjacking and believe that the perp drove the ambulette to the nail salon himself. Neighbors were baffled by the crime — and the seemingly bizarre escape vehicle. "It takes a real jerk to rob this business in broad daylight and use an ambulette as a getaway car," said Hollis Hill resident Jen Lopez, 33. "What is this world coming to?"
