2007_01-crobar.jpgIt's another round in the city vs. nightlife: Police shut down West Chelsea nightclubs Crobar and Sol last night. The Post says that police "cited nine instances of violence," drug arrests, and serving alcohol to minors. Yeah, that happens when people are shot in the leg.

Sol's offenses included drug arrests, assaults, and SLA violations. Plus, during the raid, police found "two men in the DJ booth rolling a marijuana joint with coke out in the open." Good one! It should be an interesting day at court on Wednesday when the clubs try to argue for their re-opening.

The NYPD has been raiding nightclubs for a while. Last September, the City Council recommended some measures to improve bar and nightlife safety. And late last year, there was some rumor about clubs wanting to leave West Chelsea.
