Just to establish that irony and anti-gun arguments are not dead, an off-duty correction officer's gun went off accidentally in Bushwick this afternoon while he was reportedly on his way to a shooting range, allegedly leaving him and a colleague with a couple of non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say the incident happened at around 12:20 p.m. today at a BP station near Stewart Street and Bushwick Ave. Officers Ramel Small and Wayne Feliciano were reportedly driving to a shooting range at the time, and the DOC says Small accidentally fired his gun while he was transferring it from one holster to another.

According to DOC, Small was struck in a finger on his left hand, and Feliciano was struck in the hip by the same bullet. Authorities say they were taken to Kings County Hospital and both were listed in stable condition.
