Police are still searching for the man accused of trying to rape a young woman on a Manhattan sidewalk last month, and now investigators have released video they hope will help them find the perp.
The incident occurred in Greenwich Village at 4 a.m. on July 30th. Police say the man approached the 20-year-old victim in the vicinity of 10th Street and 5th Avenue and "put her into a bear hug." He then sexually assaulted her.
The victim initially refused medical attention but was later taken to a hospital.
The suspect is described as 25 to 35 years-old, 5'5" to 5'8" and 140-170 pounds with medium length dark hair; he was last seen wearing jeans, a short sleeve shirt, and a dark baseball cap. He was also wearing a backpack. The surveillance video shows him walking down 5th Avenue outside of the New School:
