The murder of a newborn baby in Crown Heights in 1993 is back in the news, as police are asking for anyone with information related to the murder to contact them.
The unidentified baby was found in the courtyard of 346 Montgomery Street in Crown Heights 23 years ago, on the morning of November 8th, 1993. According to the News, police in the NYPD's Cold Case squad have scant information about the murder. The baby's injuries suggested she was strangled, and then had been thrown from the second floor of the building—a tenant in 346 Montgomery told investigators they heard a thump between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. on November 7th, 1993. Investigators don't know the identity of the mother, but presume she was young.
Police told the Times that they put the request for the public's assistance out now, as opposed to on the actual anniversary of the discovery so as not to have it get lost in election news.
