2008_07_bklynshooting.jpgLast night around 8:45 p.m., police officers patrolling in Bedford-Stuyvesant killed a man who fired at them. They had seen the man, per WNBC, "running down the street with a gun in his hand." When they asked him to stop, he fired instead.

According to the Daily News, he fired at least four rounds: Once after they tried to stop him and then three more times when his exit was blocked (he tried to run towards a school, but there was a 15-foot tall fence). At that point, the police opened fire and the man died from a gunshot to the head. It's unclear how
many other shots
were fired by the police, but one witness told the News there seemed to be many, "When I came out they were crouching by the car shooting at the guy. I heard a lot of bullets. You actually saw his body jumping from the bullets."

Also in Brooklyn, a 15-year-old boy was shot to death in the Brownsville section. The 2 a.m. shooting also left two other teens injured.
