The police say they arrested a man who robbed and raped a woman who had been waiting at Bronx bus stop yesterday.

According to the NYPD, the suspect, Jose Roys, engaged the 51-year-old victim in conversation near 2190 Boston Road around 6:20 a.m. (The Post reports that he wished her a Merry Christmas.) Then, police say, he "punched her in the face and dragged her into a secluded area and raped her." He also took her pocketbook.

The victim was taken to Jacobi Hospital, and police released video of the suspect—"smoking a cigarette and holding what appeared to be a liquor bottle"—at 11 p.m. By 5 a.m., police had arrested him.

PIX 11 reports, "police say he turned himself in at 1:40 a.m. Friday morning and confessed to the crime." Roys was charged with, rape, robbery, criminal sex act and assault.
