A rookie NYPD officer resigned shortly before he was to be arraigned for charges of disseminating indecent material to a minor. Police said that on Friday at 9:45 p.m. 25-year-old Freddie Smiling was arrested for emailing graphic photos of his genitals to a 15-year-old. The Post notes that Smiling was assigned to the 43rd Precinct in the Bronx and served four tours of combat, two of them in Afghanistan.
Oddly enough there's no pun in the Post's story as to whether or not the former officer was "Smiling" at his arraignment.
