Someone let a firework fly near the corner of Ralph Avenue and Pacific Street in Brooklyn just before midnight last night and hit a police officer in the leg, according to an NYPD spokesman. The officer was transported to Kings County Hospital Center for an evaluation, then released, the spokesman said. Police believe the culprit was on a nearby rooftop.

The flareup follows an incident early on the morning of July 5th when someone threw a firework into a marked cop car in Fort Greene, igniting the car's interior. Police in the area, who were in the process of dispersing a crowd of people shooting off illegal fireworks, managed to end the blaze with a fire extinguisher.

No arrests have been made in connection with either incident.
