Last month that two NYPD officers were suspended without pay after failing to report hitting a bike rider Monday while driving on the wrong side of Jay Street by Sands. According to a report in the Daily News, after knocking the cyclist off his bike with their car, Officer Louis Ramos, a 19-year veteran, and Paris Anderson, a six-year veteran, "helped the victim to the sidewalk and gave him tissues to clean the cuts and abrasions on his face, arms and legs. Then the cops drove off."
The cyclist, 61-year-old Yu Tong Chan, broke his nose and sustained facial cuts after the accidents, and he later reported the incident. Internal Affairs launched an investigation because there was no paperwork documenting the accident; as one police source put it, "For something like this there has to be documentation, even if there are minor injuries." Today 1010 WINS reports that Ramos surrendered to authorities to be charged with reckless driving, reckless assault and leaving the scene of an accident. The whole world is upside down!
