A construction worker was buried alive on Staten Island today when a water main trench he was working in collapsed. The 29-year-old worker, who has not been identified, suffered severe head trauma and leg injuries when the trench collapsed around 10:50 a.m. The Staten Island Advance reports that the incident occurred at a shopping center on Victory Boulevard, in the Bulls Head section—ABC 7 says it was the parking lot of a strip club called Lipsticks.

The cause of the trench collapse is still under investigation, but we'll update if more information becomes available.
