What are the best shoes for lugging your four pounds of cocaine through JFK security? Not cheap wedge platform sandals, one woman discovered on September 19.

Border Protection Officers stopped passenger Janisha Amalee Atkins upon arrival of her flight from Montego Bay, and noticed during the search that her modestly priced Pierre Dumas platform heels felt "unusually heavy."

Atkins was taken to a private room where officers probed (tore open) the shoes, from which a white, powdery substance that proved to be cocaine tumbled. Further investigation also revealed the drug hidden within another pair of shoes as well as a purse, together forming 3.7 pounds of blow, which carries the approximate street value of $64,000.

Atkins was arrested and faces federal narcotics smuggling charges. Next time, she should use her drug mules.*
