Today's forecast promises about the most pleasant October weather as one could ever expect. A cold front swept through the region early this morning, bringing with it lots of mild, dry air. As a result we should see sunny skies and a high in the low to mid 70s. There will be some gusty westerly winds but nothing too onerous.
More sunshine is on tap for tomorrow. It won't be quite as warm as today, but 70 is four degrees warmer than the normal high. The dry weather will last through Thursday night but we could see clouds and rain returning as early as Friday morning.
The forecasts for when the rain is likely to start are all over the place. The Weather Service says a slight chance of rain is possible starting late Friday morning while the Weather Channel holds it off until late Friday night. The problem is nobody has a good handle on when the stationary front bringing the rain will be kicked out to sea by a high pressure system headed this way from Canada. Friday and the rest of the weekend will be cooler, with highs in the lower to mid 60s. Rain could last well into Saturday but the skies should temporarily clear on Sunday.
