19-year-old Private Danny Chen, a Chinatown native who died last week in Afghanistan, was allegedly bullied and abused by his fellow soldiers prior to his non-combat related death. Now, the Army's Criminal Investigation Division is looking into the matter to figure out exactly what happened.

Chen's parents said the soldier had been subjected to "racially charged bullying" and was even "dragged out of bed" by fellow soldiers, and his back was "covered with bruises" before he was found dead in his barracks on October 3. “Our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Private Chen continues,” Army CID spokesman Christopher Grey told The Post.

“I can tell you that, aside from determining the actual cause and manner of Private Chen’s death, our investigation will also determine the circumstances.” Last week, state government buildings flew their American flags at half-staff in honor of Chen.
