New Yorkers know to be alert or aware at all times, but when you get back to your building, the tendency is to relax a little, since you're in the home stretch. That's why news of the serial rapist who has victims in Chelsea and the Bronx is upsetting, with his M.O. of attacking women in their elevators.
The rapist usually strikes up casual conversation with his victims, attacks them inside the elevator and in some cases drags them out to rape or sexually abuse them, said Deputy Inspector Susan Morley, commander of the NYPD special victims division.
It's also upsetting that the papers have taken to calling him "the silver-tongued rapist." Gothamist refuses to talk to anyone anymore, unless it over IM.
