Two construction workers were seriously injured this morning when a ceiling reportedly collapsed inside a building on Madison Avenue near Grand Central Terminal. First responders were called to the location, at 317 Madison Avenue, around 10:15 a.m., and two workers were rushed to Bellevue Hospital.

An FDNY spokesperson tells us one of the workers sustained serious, life-threatening injuries, while the other worker was transported with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Sources tell NBC New York the ceiling "apparently fell a few feet onto the construction workers." It's thus far unclear what caused the collapse at the building, which has a TD Bank on the ground floor. According to the DOB website, the ceiling collapse occurred on the first floor. The building has not been cited for any recent violations before today.
