CBS 2 News anchor Rob Morrison was arrested early Sunday morning by Connecticut police for allegedly choking his wife Ashley Morrison, who is an anchor for CBS MoneyWatch. However, the couple issued a statement claiming the allegations were "greatly exaggerated." At any rate, the person who called the police was Ashley Morrison's mother.

According to the Darien Times, the Darien police responded to the call at 1:30 a.m. "Police arrived and saw red marks on Ashley’s neck, and reported Rob used both hands to choke her.... [Morrison] 'became increasingly belligerent' toward [his wife] during an argument. While he was processed by Darien Police, officers claim to have heard Morrison threaten to harm his wife further."

Morrison, who faces felony strangulation and misdemeanor threatening and disorderly conduct charges, posted $100,000 bond. He and his wife issued a statement through their lawyer, "Rob and Ashley Morrison are cooperating fully with the authorities to insure that all of the information necessary to properly evaluate this unfortunate incident is made available. The Morrisons are confident that a full review of this matter will show that the allegations have been greatly exaggerated. While this matter is being addressed, Rob and Ashley hope that their family s privacy will be respected."

The Daily News reports, "Ashley Morrison was wearing a black turtleneck — possibly to hide the marks on her neck — when she opened the door Monday afternoon to let a cop inside the home."
