Breaking news: Canal Street has been shut down because of a suspicious package at the 1/9 station, and Gothamist is there on the spot. Actually, Mark Shewmaker, Gothamist reader, was on the spot, and he sent us this picture. Helicopters are circling now outside the Gothamist downtown office. More at NY1 News.
