The Giants get their first glimpse of Donovan McNabb in a new uniform when they face Washington today. McNabb has put the Redskins in the top-half of the league in passing yards, but they are only 25th in scoring, averaging 19.5 points per game. That combined with a defense that allows the most yards per game in the league has left Washington with a 5-6 record so far in 2010.
The Giants are in roughly the same shape they were entering last week’s game injury-wise. There is an outside chance that Steve Smith could play, but Nicks, Diehl, O’Hara and Andrews are all out of the game. That will probably lead the Giants to try and wear down the Washington defense with the combination of Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw.
One area where the Giants are fairly healthy is on defense. Last week it took them a while to get going, but they pretty much controlled the game in the second half. New York will need a similar effort against Washington. Assuming they get it, the Giants shouldn’t have too much of a problem earning the W and they will head into Minnesota with an 8-4 record.
