Last night, a taxi jumped the curb on Prince Street and smashed into the front door of perennial hot spot Café Habana. The driver hit three women who were standing outside the restaurant, and all of them were taken to Bellevue Hospital with minor injuries. A few Twitter witnesses (twitnesses?) were on hand to describe the event; twirlingwheels wrote, "Hating this taxi driver right now...Cafe Habana is my favorite! Grilled corn makes my heart flutter. Hope all are ok."
Faran Krentcil also clarified, "Ok so the cab didn't go THROUGH Cafe Habana. Hit the outside. Totaled. But fingers crossed looks like it was scary not super dangerous." One witness told the Post that he saw one of the injured women being pulled out from under the cab, while another said that all the women were crying. The driver was not issued a summons.
