Police are searching for one industrious con man who has certainly proven his grifting mettle, having robbed at least two dozen elderly women out of their money by posing as a cop and insisting he needs to investigate their bank accounts.

According to police, the 24 victims live in neighborhoods across the city, from the Lower East Side to the Rockaways. All but one were women, primarily in their 80s and 90s. The below video of the suspect was captured last month after a meeting with one victim, a 98-year-old woman.

The scam entails the suspect calling the victims and explaining that he's a cop who needs access to their bank accounts in order to conduct an investigation, NBC reports. They arrange to meet, and the victims hand over "large sums of money." The first incident was reported in June of 2011 on the Upper West Side, and the most recent occurred last month on the Upper East Side.
