City Council Speaker Gifford Miller criticized Mayor Bloomberg's handling of the bus strike. Miller said, "If these were bus lines that served Manhattan, they would never get this kind of treatment from the mayor," as he visited a bus shelter in Queens. It's not like Miller is trying to win the mayoral election this fall of anything, by appealing to the 70,000 commuters. The strike by workers of private bus lines serving Queens and Brooklyn, has been striking for the past week. Oh, Speaker Miller, the Mayor gave a statement last Thursday (here's a video file), isn't that enough? And he had a photo op with commuters, too? Isn't that enough?
Mayor Bloomberg's spokesman said, "We have met every demand that the union has made, and they inexplicably continue to strike"; he also snarked, "Gifford Miller shilling on behalf of the bus owners and union isn't helpful."
