And this is why the MTA is installing partitions to protect bus drivers. Last night around 6:50 p.m. a B45 bus crashed into scaffolding outside 210 Livingston Street in Downtown Brooklyn. According to the driver he was being assaulted by a passenger at the time, an MTA spokesman says.

Four people suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to the FDNY. It is currently unclear what the argument was about or if the unruly passenger will be charged with any crimes.

Sadly MTA drivers are assaulted by passengers quite frequently. According to the MTA last year the number rose 17 percent. Over the years reports have surfaced of drivers being spat on, stabbed, punched and choked. Though most of those drivers have been able to avoid crashing their buses.
