After learning three men, ages 77, 72 and 61, at the Carlton Nursing Home in Fort Greene had died within an hour of each other, police are looking into the deaths. The NYPD said, "While the deaths may be no more than a coincidence, a crime scene was established and standard investigative steps were taken while detectives await the results of autopsies." The police, who say the patients had advanced diabetes, a heart condition, and a terminal illness, also found "no obvious signs or violence" and normal air quality. The nursing home's medical director Lawrence Diamond told the Daily News, "There's nothing suspicious as far as I'm concerned... People are old, people are ill and people pass away. It's very unfortunate, but there is nothing suspicious about what happens when old people die."
