A Brooklyn man was shot and killed early Saturday morning at a catering hall on Bedford Avenue after an argument broke out during an baby shower, police said.

Police say they responded to a 911 call of a man who had been shot at the Afrika House Banquet and Catering Hall shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday morning. When they arrived, cops found 39-year-old Hilario Paulino Cortez Vidals unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head. EMS took Cortez to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A police spokesperson told Gothamist that Cortez's son got into an argument with two men, who then left the baby shower and fired a gun from the outside through the window. Cortez was struck in the face during the shooting, according to police, but the identity of the suspects and whether Cortez was the intended target are both still under investigation. A police source told the News that the shooters and Cortez were from different families, who had "a real Hatfield-McCoy" situation going on.
