A 28-year-old Brooklyn man was struck and killed last night by the driver of a car in Sheepshead Bay. The driver fled the scene, according to police.

Cops say they responded to a call about a pedestrian hit by a driver at 3044 Avenue V, shortly after 8 p.m. last night. When they arrived on the scene, they found a man, identified as Sheepshead Bay resident Francis Perez, lying unresponsive in the street with head trauma. EMS brought Perez to Coney Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation by the NYPD found that Perez was crossing Avenue V when he was struck by the driver of either a blue SUV or blue minivan traveling west on Avenue V. The driver then left the scene. No arrests have been made yet and police say an investigation is ongoing.

A witness told the Daily News that the driver of the car stopped at the corner before speeding off, and that she gave Perez CPR before he was taken away in an ambulance.
