A 61-year-old man was arrested for shooting his 43-year-old stepson in a Canarsie apartment last night. According to the Daily News, "Osvaldo Vasquez was mortally wounded in his sixth-floor apartment at the Breukelen Houses in Canarsie by a single blast to the chest just after 6 p.m."

The Post has the apparent backstory: Vasquez was "crack-addicted," and he and his stepfather were arguing after Vasquez "asked him for money to support his habit, police sources said." However, News 12 spoke to a family friend, who said "[The stepfather Dolores Fuentes] stated that the shooting was a mistake. The victim's mother says Fuentes was holding the gun when it accidentally went off." The stepfather was taken into custody and charges are pending.
