The Department of Education has removed a teacher from her classroom after the the DOE's Office of Special Investigations discovered she had sex with a 15-year-old male student. Evelyn Rogers was charged with rape in the third-degree.

Special Commissioner of Investigations Richard Condon said they acted on a tip, "We went out and we interviewed the teacher and we interviewed the student. Both told us that they had been having sexual intercourse going back to August of last year. We conferred with the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office and they told us to arrest her." The pair allegedly met many times; the student is now 16.

Rogers, 33, has been working with the Department of Education since 2011 and was teaching special education at the High School for Innovation in Advertising and Media in Canarsie. Earlier this month, a teacher is Queens was charged with raping one of his middle school students.
