The NY Post reports that 15 year old Melanie Dash has been missing since Friday morning when she was headed to school.
Relatives and cops are concerned because she lives in the same Crown Heights neighborhood where the body of Chanel Petro-Nixon, 16, was found stuffed in a garbage bag on a street in June.
No arrests have been made in that crime.
Melanie is in good health and is "not a chronic runaway." Call Crimestoppers at (800) 577-TIPS with any information.
The Daily News has been active in trying to urge readers to come forward with any information about Petro-Nixon's death - there is now a $30,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killed (again, called CrimeStoppers). Petro-Nixon's mother was featured in a NY Times Neediest Cases feature: Lucita Petro-Nixon said, "It is hard. 'Everything here just reminds us of her. Sometimes we don't even think about it. Then it's just there. I wish I could just pick up and leave, but I can't. She is everywhere.'"
