The police are looking for a subway bandit along the 4 and 6 lines in the Bronx. Brian Ballard was identified in a photo lineup as the man who have robbed at least five people in January and February, concentrating in the Melrose section, between 138th and 149th Streets. He has a gun in the stickups (his haul has been money and an iPod), but has only used it to threaten or hit people, and has commited the crimes at all times of day. Does anyone who ride the subway in that area know if the police have increased their presence there?
And the police say robberies during January were down 17% versus last year.
