A Bronx man was fatally run over by a driver leaving a parking space last night.
Police say that 58-year-old Guy Ryff walked to the front of a 2010 Toyota legally parked in a spot at the intersection of Lane and East Tremont Avenue in Parkchester. An NYPD release states that Ryff "falls in front" of the car, eventually moving to a sitting position with his back to the front bumper.
A little after 7:30 p.m., the owner of the car entered his vehicle from the rear, started the engine, and ran Ryff over, before coming to a stop, the release states.
Ryff, who lived in Edgewater, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained with his vehicle, and has not been charged with a crime.
An NYPD spokesperson could not provide any additional details, and added that the investigation is continuing.
