A Bronx man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and then held a knife to his baby's neck. Russel Rivera Jr. was in a heated stand-off with police around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday: "He had the baby in his arms and a big knife, a butcher's knife. The baby was crying. It was pouring. The baby had no clothes on, just Pampers," witness Edna Rivera told the News.

Police were called to the Parkchester Condominiums apartment building after Rivera got into a fight with his girlfriend and baby mama, which turned physical at some point. In a rage, River grabbed the baby and headed outside, where he was confronted by security guards who pleaded, "Drop the knife! Give us the baby!" Thankfully, they were able to take the baby from Rivera unharmed. When cops arrived and tried to put Rivera in a squad car, he began yelling and kicking at the officers, according to witnesses. Rivera was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
