A 3-year-old was killed in the Bronx yesterday afternoon after he fell from an apartment window. Witnesses saw Gabriel Estevez briefly dangling from the window of the apartment (it was either the 3rd or 4th story) at 280 East 161st Street around 4 p.m. Saturday. “He was screaming for help. By the time we got across the street he had already fell,” neighbor Frank White told the News.

He suffered cardiac arrest, and died at Lincoln Hospital soon after. Fox NY noted that there were no window guards on the apartment window. Police told us they are still investigating the incident—neighbors told the News the child fell from the building superintendent’s apartment, and police had the super’s apartment blocked last night. “His mom keeps screaming his name,” said the boy’s aunt, who gave her name as Yaneliz. “He was a kid that everybody loved because he was sweet to everybody. He was a really happy child.”
