A 51-year-old Broadway actress who was hospitalized after a fire broke out in her Hell's Kitchen apartment this week has died.

DNAinfo reports that Vivien Eng, 51, succumbed to injuries sustained in a fire at her apartment in Manhattan Plaza at West 43rd Street near 10th Avenue. Eng was hospitalized following Tuesday's fire, but died yesterday.

Actor Dylan Baker, whose apartment is next door to Eng's, attempted to save her when the fire broke out, but she didn't respond when he knocked on her door, and eventually he fled with his family. Firefighters later found Eng unconscious on her apartment floor.

"It's shocking how fragile life is, I'm very saddened by it," Douglass Leland, the building's Tenant Association President, told DNAinfo.

Eng, a dancer, was a member of a number of Broadway ensembles, including "The King and I." Her IMDB credits list roles in films like Precious and Away We Go. Neighbors say she suffered from arthritis and myopthy in later years, and had to give up dancing.

Manhattan Plaza, the building in which she lived, is largely populated by artists and local actors.
