A 39-year-old woman was robbed on Friday evening while she breastfed her 6-month-old daughter in Fort Tryon Park.

The Daily News reports that Elena Sobina, 39, was in the park near Riverside Drive at around 5:30 p.m. on Friday when a knife-wielding man approached her, pushed her to the ground, and knocked her baby daughter, Kelly, out of her hands. He then allegedly stole her bag. "I was screaming ‘Please, please, take the bag with the money!'" Sobina told the tabloid. "The bag was hanging on the stroller, and I was crawling away from him with Kelly. I thought he would kill me."

Sobina grabbed her daughter, who sustained a cut to her lip, and found a passerby who called the cops. Police say 31-year-old Juan Garcia was arrested at around 7:23 p.m. and charged with robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, grand larceny, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Sobina told reporters she first saw and made eye contact with Garcia in the park a week ago. "I saw him maybe when he was 3 or 4 feet away,” she said. “He turned and left. At the time I didn’t think it was serious. I kept coming back to the park."
