A 25-year-old bellhop at The Bowery Hotel was quite publicly carted away on Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly sold pot to an undercover cop. Matthew Sullivan was still wearing his distinctive red vest when he was loaded into an NYPD van in broad daylight. But is it any surprise that a bellhop at a hotel known for its celebrity clientele might have a side gig dealing dope?
"He was embarrassed," a co-worker told the Post after the arrest. "Everything was done in front of the hotel. He was in his uniform; guests and everyone could see."
At his arraignment yesterday prosecutors say Sullivan told an officer: "Come on, man. You’re entrapping me." The bellhop has reportedly worked at the the hotel "for a couple of years." After being charted with criminal possession of marijuana Sullivan was released on his own recognizance.
