The NYPD is probing the death of a man found tied up with a phone cable in his East Harlem apartment yesterday morning, and they suspect his home health care aide may be involved.

According to authorities, the body of 59-year-old Milton Ortiz was discovered by neighbors at around 9:23 a.m. yesterday. When cops arrived at his apartment at East 126th Street near 2nd Ave, they found his wrists and feet had been bound by a phone cord and a towel was wrapped around his neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors told reporters they had no idea what happened to Ortiz. "Very strange, because it couldn't have been money because he has no money, and he has no enemies," Steve Goldman, a neighbor, told NY1. "So it's a very bizarre case." Ortiz, who reportedly suffered from a medical condition that required outside care, had a home health care aide, and cops are looking into whether she may have been involved.

According to reports, there was no sign of forced entry, nor was there any sign of a struggle. Ortiz's brother, Edwin Ortiz, told reporters the victim had lived in his apartment for decades.
