Earlier today the NYPD identified the woman whose body was found at the end of a dead end street in Williamsburg near the East River. Bronx resident Merceda Young, 35, was found under a blanket at Division and Kent Avenues, by the Wallabout Channel, on Tuesday afternoon. Now police have made an arrest.
Alex Jeffrey, a 30-year-old Bronx resident, was arrested this afternoon and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Allison Papson, a reporter for News 12 in the Bronx, says Jeffrey was Young's boyfriend.
Young was found Tuesday afternoon, but her body may have been there longer. According to ABC 7, her body was hidden under the type of blanket used by movers. One man saw the blanket when he arrived for work at the adjacent lumber yard, but later said he didn't think twice about it.
