A security guard for Mayor Bloomberg has been stripped of his badge and placed on modified duty as police investigate his alleged shooting of his lady's ex-boyfriend. Leopold McLean's girlfriend reportedly called him over to her apartment after her ex-boyfriend threatened to come over in violation of a court order. McLean, who was off duty at the time, was at the house when the ex arrived and the two got into an argument. However, police are questioning McLean's account of what happened.

McLean said the man came at him with a knife, and he shot him in the leg in self defense. But forensic evidence suggests the man was running away when he was shot. McLean was tracked down after the victim contacted the Civilian Complaint Review Board and claimed he was shot by a high-ranking cop. Last year, an off-duty cop shot a knife-wielding man in a bar brawl, and was also placed on "active but modified duty."
