Mayor Bloomberg said today he thought the off-duty police detective--whose blood alcohol was 0.10, above the 0.08 limit--who fired back at a suspect "acted correctly." The Post reports the mayor gave his comments during a press conference on a different topic. He was asked about the shooting and said, "I clearly think the officer did the right thing. Having said that, it is up to [Police Commissioner Ray Kelly]. He will do a thorough investigation and then make a decision." Bloomberg pointed out the officer, in trying to stop attackers from beating someone and was fired upon, "saw something where people's lives were threatened and he took appropriate action to stop that."
